NEW WESTHILL SUPERINTENDENT HAS BEEN APPOINTED
On October 22, 2012, the Westhill Board of Education appointed Mr. Casey Barduhn to the position of Superintendent of Schools. He will replace Mr. Stephen Bocciolatt who will retire on December 31, 2012 after ten and a half years at Westhill.
Mr. Barduhn is currently the Superintendent of Schools in the Mt. Markham Central School District, located in West Winfield, NY. He has held that position for 7 years. Prior to his position at Mt. Markham, he was superintendent of the Romulus Central School District for five years. Prior to becoming a superintendent, Mr. Barduhn has been a principal, assistant principal and music teacher. He is a graduate of Westhill High School and Syracuse University.
The search for a new superintendent began in June when current superintendent, Stephen Bocciolatt announced his retirement. School-community advice regarding the desired characteristics of the new superintendent was sought through an on-line survey during the summer.
The board received more than 20 applications for the position and interviewed five semi-finalists. Two finalists visited the district and met with committees of students, teachers, administrators, support staff, parents and community members. The Board of Education met with the finalists and made their decision.
Mr. Barduhn is expected to begin his position in January. Please join the Board in
welcoming him to our district.
